Hyderabad: BRS Legislature Party deputy leader and former minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy expressed concern over falling government school enrolment in Telangana. She said the number had dropped by more than 3.57 lakh students.
Sabitha Indra Reddy said government schools had 30,09,212 students during the BRS government. This year, the figure stood at 26,52,162.
The BRS leader blamed the decline on what she called the government’s failure to strengthen public education. She said the fall reflected growing concerns among poorer families.
According to her, parents from weaker sections had lost confidence in government schools. She also criticised the Congress government’s approach to public education.
Government school enrolment falls by over 3.57 lakh
Furthermore, Sabitha Indra Reddy alleged that the government was weakening public schools. She claimed the move aimed to reduce the number of government schools.
At the same time, she said such an approach would affect students from poorer families. She criticised the Congress government over its education policies.
In her statement, the BRS leader warned that students and their parents would respond to decisions affecting poor families.
“This Congress government, which is playing with the lives of the poor, will suffer at the hands of the students and their parents,” she said.
Meanwhile, Sabitha Indra Reddy continued to raise concerns over government school enrolment and the state of public education under the Congress government.
