Hyderabad: Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukender Reddy said public participation was essential for the effective implementation of government programmes and welfare schemes.
He attended a district-level Praja Palana Pragathi Pranalika programme held on Friday at MNR Function Hall near the bypass road in Nalgonda district headquarters as the chief guest.
Gutta Sukender Reddy said the Telangana government was implementing several welfare schemes for all sections of society. He said the government was continuing programmes such as Rythu Bima, Rythu Bharosa and the six guarantees for farmers and other beneficiaries.
However, he said several issues in different sectors still required attention and solutions. He urged farmers to adopt crop diversification and improve awareness about cultivation practices based on changing weather and climate conditions.
The Chairman also stressed the need to increase livestock wealth, which he said was declining gradually. He asked people not to become the reason for new problems and called for deeper thinking towards solving existing issues.
Gutta Sukender Reddy said the government needed to focus more on resolving problems in education, irrigation and healthcare sectors. He stated that the government was strengthening education through Young India Integrated Residential Schools and Model Schools.
The government was providing uniforms and mid-day meals to students, he said. In addition, the state planned to introduce breakfast for students from the coming academic year.
