Hyderabad: Republic Day celebrations were held with solemnity at the Telangana Legislature on Monday, with Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar unfurling the national flag at the Assembly premises and Council Chairman Gutta Sukender Reddy hoisting the tricolour at the Legislative Council.
The Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar hoisted the tricolour in the morning and received a guard of honour from police personnel in the Assembly premises. He later paid floral tributes to the statue of Dr B.R. Ambedkar in the Assembly complex. On the occasion, he urged citizens to remember the rights granted by the Constitution. He also called upon them to fulfil their duties and contribute to national development.
Many dignitaries attended the programme. Members of the Legislative Council, public representatives from various parties, the Assembly Secretary and senior officials were present. Assembly staff and marshals also attended and sang the national anthem.
Republic Day celebrations held at Assembly and Council premises
At the Legislative Council premises, Chairman Gutta Sukender Reddy unfurled the national flag. He led the Republic Day celebrations held at the Council. Thus, both Houses of the Legislature observed the national event with formal ceremonies.
In addition, officials organised Republic Day programmes at the Telangana Secretariat. Government offices across the State also held similar events. As part of the nationwide celebrations, departments ensured staff participation and smooth conduct of the programmes.
