Mancherial: Energy and Mines Minister Dr G. Vivek Venkataswamy on Friday said the Congress party’s goal was to make Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister. He stressed that party leaders should work together to strengthen Congress at the national level.
Speaking to the media in Mancherial, Vivek said personal and political differences should not come in the way of that objective. Instead, he called for unity to help Congress form a government at the Centre under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership.
Meanwhile, the Minister said the Telangana government was moving forward with welfare and development as its priorities.
Vivek highlights Telangana welfare schemes
Vivek said the Congress government waived farm loans of up to ₹2 lakh after coming to power. According to him, the government spent ₹23,000 crore on the initiative.
He also highlighted free bus travel for women and free electricity of up to 200 units. In addition, he referred to the distribution of fine rice to poor families.
The Minister cited free medical treatment of up to ₹10 lakh under Rajiv Aarogyasri. He also highlighted the sanctioning of new pensions and ration cards.
Furthermore, Vivek said the government had sanctioned two lakh Indiramma houses. In contrast, he accused the previous BRS government of neglecting its double-bedroom housing programme.
Government focusing on skills and employment: Vivek
Turning to youth employment, Vivek said the government was helping young people acquire modern skills, including Artificial Intelligence.
He said the State had established 65 Advanced Technology Centres. Moreover, the government would spend ₹800 crore on developing polytechnic colleges.
Vivek assured polytechnic students that lateral entry into engineering courses would continue through the ECET examination. He also said the government would not increase fees.
Additionally, the Minister announced that students would receive a stipend of ₹2,500. He said the government would also protect lecturers’ job security, salaries and promotions.
Vivek attacks BRS over criticism of Congress
Vivek also criticised the BRS leadership for repeatedly targeting the Congress government. He alleged that attacking Congress had become the opposition party’s primary political agenda.
Furthermore, the Minister referred to the BRS’s electoral defeats. He claimed that people remained aware of what he described as corruption and a “commission culture” during the party’s decade in power.
Vivek reiterated that Congress leaders should focus on strengthening the organisation. Ultimately, he said their common political objective was to bring Congress to power nationally under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership.
