Hyderabad: BRS leaders staged a protest at the Cantonment MRO Office and demanded that the government allocate eight acres of land in Bowenpally for the construction of Indiramma houses.
The protest focused on government land in Survey No. 157/1.
BRS leaders said the land could accommodate nearly 6,000 housing units for poor families.
Addressing the gathering, BRS Membership In-Charge Manne Krishank alleged that the Congress government had failed to protect the land from encroachment.
He claimed the property was worth nearly Rs 800 crore.

Meanwhile, Krishank alleged that reports had surfaced regarding a Rs 5-crore payoff involving a local Congress MLA in connection with the land issue.
He did not present evidence for the allegation during the protest.
Further, the BRS leader said his party would oppose any attempt to hand over government land to private interests.
He also warned against using the property for commercial purposes.
According to Krishank, the government should utilise the land for housing projects benefiting poor families.
Additionally, he said the BRS would intensify its agitation until authorities secure the land.
He also demanded that officials earmark the property for the Indiramma housing scheme.
Former Corporation Chairman Gajjala Nagesh attended the programme.
Former Cantonment Board members Jakkula Maheshwar Reddy, Anita, Nalini, Kiran, Pandu Yadav, Shyam Kumar and T.N. Srinivas also participated.
The party reiterated its demand that the government use the land for constructing Indiramma houses.
