Telangana High Court extends journalist accreditation validity till August 25

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court extended journalist accreditation validity until August 25, 2026, during a hearing held on August 3. The court continued its earlier interim directions while hearing a petition filed by the Telangana Urdu Working Journalists’ Federation (TUWJF). Advocate Barkat Ali Khan represented the petitioner federation before the court.

Journalist accreditation validity extended pending final hearing

During the hearing, the respondents informed the court that they had already issued a majority of the accreditation cards to the petitioners.

However, the petitioner objected to the submission. Consequently, the court directed the respondents to file a detailed list of all accreditation cards issued, along with the relevant particulars.

The court also informed both parties that it would begin the final hearing from the next date of proceedings. It directed them to place all relevant documents on record before the scheduled hearing.

Journalist accreditation validity remains in force

The petitioner submitted a date-wise list of events and a report alleging instances of non-compliance by the respondents. The court accepted both documents on record.

The extension allows working journalists to continue using their existing accreditation cards and retain access to the professional privileges and government facilities available to accredited journalists while the case remains pending.

The High Court posted the matter for further hearing and the commencement of final arguments on August 25, 2026.
