MP Vamsi slams Centre over NEET UG controversy

Hyderabad: Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna criticised the Centre over the NEET UG controversy and accused it of putting the future of lakhs of students at risk through repeated examination failures. He said the government failed to protect the integrity of the medical entrance examination and then penalised candidates who were affected by administrative shortcomings.

In a statement, the Congress MP referred to the alleged question paper leak that resulted in the cancellation of the May 3 NEET-UG 2026 examination. He also questioned the decision to deny entry to candidates who reached examination centres a few minutes late for the re-test conducted on June 21.

Vamsi Krishna said students had spent months preparing for the examination. However, he argued that authorities chose to punish candidates instead of addressing the failures that led to the disruption. He said the distress faced by students and parents who were turned away from centres would remain a serious concern.

Student concerns deepen amid NEET UG controversy

The MP also targeted Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the government should focus on safeguarding students’ academic futures rather than “playing with their lives.” Furthermore, he called for greater accountability in the conduct of national-level entrance examinations.

The remarks came as public criticism continued to grow over the NEET UG controversy. Reports from several cities indicated that students broke down after being denied entry because of traffic delays and confusion at examination centres. As a result, concerns over examination management intensified across the country.

The National Testing Agency has faced sustained criticism over repeated lapses in conducting India’s largest medical entrance examination. The latest developments have renewed demands for stronger safeguards and a more student-friendly approach to examination administration.
