CP Sajjanar reviews Muharram security arrangements in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar reviewed Muharram security arrangements during a visit to the historic Bibi Ka Alawa at Dabeerpura and Darushifa on Saturday.

The Commissioner offered prayers after presenting a ceremonial offering at the shrine.

Later, he flagged off the trial walk of the elephant Sridevi, a major attraction of the Bibi Ka Alam procession, along with MLC Mirza Riyaz Ul Hassan Effendi.

The officials also inspected security measures and logistical arrangements along the procession route.

Muharram security arrangements include 2,000 police personnel

Meanwhile, Sajjanar interacted with procession organisers and sought their cooperation in ensuring smooth conduct of the event.

Addressing the media, he said Hyderabad Police had taken extensive precautionary measures to maintain law and order during Muharram.

He said nearly 2,000 police personnel would be deployed for the Bibi Ka Alam procession.

Further, he informed that traffic restrictions would remain in force along the procession route.

The Commissioner said the trial walk helps officials assess the elephant’s movement in crowded conditions.

It also helps authorities evaluate the route and identify additional safety requirements.

Additionally, Sajjanar recalled the cooperation extended by citizens during previous major events in the city.

He appealed to the public to extend similar support this year and help ensure the peaceful conduct of the procession.

The Commissioner expressed confidence that Hyderabad’s tradition of communal harmony would contribute to the successful completion of the event.

Additional CP (Law and Order) Tafseer Iqbal, Charminar Zone DCP Khare Kiran, Task Force DCP Vaibhav Raghunath Gaikwad, Traffic DCP B.K. Rahul Hegde and other senior police officials attended the programme.
