Hyderabad: The Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC), in collaboration with the Cyberabad Traffic Police, conducted a Traffic Volunteer Refresher Programme to strengthen the knowledge and operational skills of traffic volunteers. More than 60 volunteers participated in the programme at the Commissioner of Police Auditorium.
The training focused on road safety, traffic management, emergency response and community participation. Meanwhile, Additional DCP Traffic-I Hanumantha Rao, SCSC CEO Naved, SCSC Director-Strategic Operations Rashmi, Road Safety and Traffic Management Forum Joint Secretary Rajesh Balaraju, Co-Lead Ratna Sharma, Mahesh and other Traffic Forum members attended the event.
Hanumantha Rao said “Safety First” should remain the guiding principle for every Traffic Volunteer. He also urged volunteers to support enforcement by identifying violations such as mobile phone use while driving, free-left violations, drunken driving, overspeeding and noise pollution.
Rajesh Balaraju highlighted the role of volunteers in reducing congestion and improving road safety. In addition, he spoke about the Cyberabad Convergence initiative and encouraged greater compliance with road signs and traffic rules.
Traffic Volunteer Refresher Programme covers CPR training
Ratna Sharma called for stronger collaboration between the IT industry and the Traffic Police to improve urban mobility. Furthermore, she encouraged companies to promote road safety awareness, helmet use and the upcoming carpooling initiative.
Naved highlighted the benefits of carpooling and staggered office timings, particularly during the monsoon season, to reduce peak-hour congestion. Accordingly, he reaffirmed SCSC’s commitment to supporting sustainable mobility initiatives with stakeholders.
The programme also included Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR training by Yashoda Hospitals. Finally, the Traffic Training Institute conducted sessions on traffic signs, road safety practices and volunteer responsibilities. Participants completed an assessment test, after which successful candidates will receive Traffic Volunteer Identity Cards and Certificates.
