Hyderabad: A Gadwal student suicide case came to light after a 17-year-old Intermediate second-year student allegedly died by suicide at his home. Police recovered a note in which he accused a lecturer of humiliating him in class.
The deceased was identified as Netibottu Tarun, a resident of Kothapalli village. He studied at the Government Junior College in Gadwal. According to the available information, Tarun secured 434 out of 440 marks in the first-year Intermediate examinations. He stood second in the district.
Police said a woman lecturer allegedly compared Tarun’s marks with those of another student who had scored 435 marks. Tarun reportedly told her that the comparison had hurt him. The note further alleged that the lecturer slapped Tarun in the classroom. It also claimed that classmates laughed at him, leaving him deeply distressed.
Gadwal student suicide note alleges humiliation
According to the reported suicide note, Tarun wrote that teachers should encourage students instead of humiliating them. He also wrote that public humiliation could deeply affect a sensitive student.
The note reportedly sought action against the lecturer. It further stated that he wanted the incident to become known to the public. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death. Investigators will also verify the contents and authenticity of the alleged suicide note.
The Gadwal student suicide has renewed concern over student well-being and classroom conduct. Authorities are expected to establish the facts during the investigation.
