Hyderabad: An Extremely heavy rain alert was issued for several districts of north Telangana as a depression was expected to move towards the State by midnight, triggering the peak phase of rainfall over the next 24 hours.
The forecast indicated that Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jagtial, Peddapalli, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Mulugu districts were likely to experience the heaviest rainfall.
According to the forecast, isolated places in these districts could receive between 300 mm and 400 mm of rainfall during the next 24 hours.
The weather system was also expected to bring widespread and continuous rainfall to central, western and eastern Telangana. Moreover, several areas were likely to experience frequent spells of heavy to very heavy rain.
Extremely heavy rain alert covers Hyderabad and other regions
In Hyderabad, persistent light to moderate rain was expected to continue throughout the day. The forecast also indicated that rainfall intensity could increase from the evening and continue into the night.
Authorities advised residents in affected districts to remain alert as the depression approached Telangana. They also urged people to monitor official weather updates and exercise caution in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
The Extremely heavy rain alert highlighted the possibility of intense rainfall across northern parts of the State. Continuous showers in other regions were also expected to affect normal life and travel conditions.
Residents were advised to remain vigilant until the weather system weakened. The forecast warned that the next 24 hours could bring the most intense phase of rainfall associated with the depression.
