Tension in Sircilla over BRS protest against Bandi Sanjay

Hyderabad: A BRS protest in Sircilla triggered tension after police detained several party leaders ahead of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay’s visit to the town.

BRS leaders expressed anger over personal remarks allegedly made by Bandi Sanjay against BRS working president KT Rama Rao.

Party leaders demanded that the Union minister apologise to KTR before visiting Sircilla. They also warned that they would continue protests until he issued an apology.

Police carried out preventive detentions early in the morning following the protest call by BRS leaders.

BRS protest leads to preventive detentions

Police placed Sircilla town president Jindam Chakrapani and municipal vice-chairman Darla Sandeep under house arrest.

Officials also detained former district sarpanches forum president Matla Madhu and several other BRS leaders near the Sircilla bypass road.

Police later shifted the detained leaders to the police station.

BRS leaders criticised the police action and termed the detentions illegal. They strongly condemned the personal remarks made against KTR.

The leaders raised slogans against Bandi Sanjay and demanded an unconditional apology.

Meanwhile, heated arguments broke out between BRS leaders and police personnel during the protest.

Slogans against the Union minister echoed across the area, leading to a tense atmosphere in Sircilla.

Municipal councillors, sarpanches and several BRS leaders were among those detained by police.
