Hyderabad global city vision targets international investment

Hyderabad: IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said the Telangana government was implementing a long-term plan to develop Hyderabad into a global city within the next 10 years.

The Minister addressed the NASSCOM GCC Summit 2026 in Mumbai on Thursday. The summit was held on the theme “Beyond Policy: Designed to Win the Global GCC Race.”

Sridhar Babu said the government adopted the Telangana Rising Vision 2047 framework with the aim of increasing the State’s contribution to India’s GDP to 10 per cent by 2047.

The Minister said many cities worldwide were facing the effects of unplanned urbanisation and urban collapse. However, he asserted that Hyderabad would avoid such problems through planned infrastructure growth and long-term urban development strategies.

Hyderabad global city plan focuses on infrastructure

Sridhar Babu said the government had launched several major infrastructure and innovation projects across the State. These included Bharat Future City, AI City, Metro Rail expansion, new airports, the Regional Ring Road, Musi river rejuvenation, Young India Skills University and the AIKAM Innovation Hub.

He stated that Hyderabad was becoming a preferred destination for Global Capability Centres across sectors such as technology, banking, life sciences, semiconductors, defence, FMCG, hospitality and space technology.

The Minister said more than 70 GCCs were established in Hyderabad during the previous year, which was the highest in the country. He added that the State aimed to launch 100 more GCCs this year.

According to Sridhar Babu, the proposed expansion could create employment opportunities for nearly one lakh people. He also said the government was preparing a roadmap to transform GCCs from traditional back-office units into global value centres.

Hyderabad global city strategy targets skilled workforce

Inviting industrialists to invest in Telangana, Sridhar Babu highlighted Hyderabad’s skilled workforce and strong talent ecosystem. He said the State offered trained professionals across multiple sectors.

The Minister urged industries to help take the “Made in Telangana” brand to global markets. NASSCOM Chairman Srikant and President Rajesh Nambiar also attended the summit.
