Committee hears Telangana activists from four north districts

Hyderabad: The Telangana Activists Recognition Committee on Wednesday held consultations with Telangana activists from Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Nirmal and Adilabad districts as part of its ongoing review under G.O. No. 679.

The meeting took place at the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial (Amaradeepam). Committee Chairman Dr K. Keshava Rao, member Prof. M. Kodandaram, executive members Mote Shobhan Reddy and S. Ramulu Naik attended the programme.

Committee members examined representations, supporting documents and suggestions submitted by activists who had travelled from the four districts.

Telangana activists seek welfare measures and recognition

Addressing the gathering, the committee members said activists from the four north Telangana districts had played a key role in the statehood movement. They recalled the participation of students, RTC employees, Singareni workers, tribal communities and other sections in protests across the region.

Meanwhile, the activists sought 250-square-yard house sites for eligible families without homes. They also demanded a monthly lifetime pension, reservations in education and government jobs for their children, and special benefits for women who participated in the movement.

Further, the activists urged the committee to recommend free treatment through government and recognised corporate hospitals using digital health cards. They also sought free education from KG to PG for their children and lifetime free TSRTC bus travel for recognised activists.

The committee members said they had recorded every representation and assured participants that no genuine activist would face injustice during the identification process.

Committee Chairman Dr K. Keshava Rao said the consultations would continue until July 22. He added that the committee would submit a comprehensive report with its recommendations to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
