Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) Additional Managing Director B. Ajith Reddy on Wednesday directed officials to prepare fresh plans to strengthen Hyderabad Metro services and improve passenger convenience across the network.
During a review meeting, he assessed operations and development of the existing 69-km metro corridors. Joint Managing Director Shivendra Pratap and senior officials from various departments attended the meeting.
Ajith Reddy reviewed passenger amenities, last-mile connectivity, safety measures, parking facilities, station cleanliness and crowd management across metro stations.
Hyderabad Metro focuses on connectivity and passenger convenience
The Additional Managing Director asked officials to begin discussions with manufacturers to procure additional metro coaches at the earliest. According to Ajith Reddy, the move would improve passenger comfort and ensure safer travel.
Further, he stressed the need to strengthen last-mile connectivity by coordinating with TSRTC and the Transport Department. Officials were also asked to expand feeder vehicle services and improve integration with other public transport systems.
Meanwhile, Ajith Reddy instructed officials to maintain and expand skywalks connected to metro stations. He also called for better coordination with railway authorities to improve access between railway and metro stations.
In addition, the HMRL Additional Managing Director directed officials to prepare station-specific improvement plans and implement them on a pilot basis before expanding them across the network. He added that he would soon conduct field inspections to review station operations and maintenance.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of the proposed Public Rapid Transit System (PRTS) in Hitec City, Raidurg, Gachibowli, Financial District and Kondapur. Officials also discussed security measures implemented by the Metro Rail Security Department to strengthen passenger safety.
Chief Electrical Engineer D.V.S. Raju, Chief Signalling and Technical Engineer Swapan Kumar Das, Chief Project Manager B. Anand Mohan, General Manager M. Vishnuvardhan Reddy, Chief Engineer Y. Saipareddy, General Manager (Security) Srinath Reddy and other senior officials attended the meeting.
