Student JAC demands withdrawal of G.O.Ms.No.7 over fee reimbursement concerns

Hyderabad: Student organisations demanded withdrawal of G.O.Ms.No.7 and accused the Telangana government of creating uncertainty over fee reimbursement for nearly 14 lakh students.

The protest took place at Gun Park under the leadership of Student JAC chairman Vemula Ramakrishna. Former minister Srinivas Goud attended the programme as chief guest.

Protesters carried out a torch rally and raised slogans against the government’s decision. They alleged that the lack of clarity in G.O.Ms.No.7 would push poor students away from higher education.

Student leaders said the government had not clarified when pending reimbursement amounts would reach student accounts. They questioned how students could continue studies if colleges insisted on advance payments.

G.O.Ms.No.7 sparks concerns over fee burden

The protesters alleged that educational institutions were already demanding fees before admissions. They claimed several colleges were refusing admissions without upfront payments.

Leaders of the protest said the policy would force poor students into debt. They also warned that many students could discontinue higher education due to financial pressure.

The organisers alleged that pending reimbursement dues had crossed ₹10,000 crore. They said some colleges were withholding certificates because of unpaid dues. According to them, students were losing jobs and higher education opportunities.

The Student JAC demanded immediate release of pending dues and implementation of a fee regulation law. The organisation also asked the government to amend G.O.Ms.No.7 and announce a phased payment schedule.

Student leaders demanded release of 25 percent of the amount at the start of the academic year. They sought 50 percent in the middle and the remaining 25 percent at the end through a green channel system.

BC JAC working chairman Kojja Krishna, Narasimha Naik, Sai Sania, Pratyusha, Vennela, Prajala Anusha, Shruti and Aishwarya participated in the protest.
