Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy urged the Centre to approve the northern stretch of the Regional Ring Road and begin construction at the earliest. He made the request during a meeting with Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on Tuesday.
The Chief Minister said about 95 per cent of land acquisition for the northern section had already been completed. He also sought approval for the southern stretch so work on both sections could begin simultaneously.

Revanth Reddy told the Union Minister that executing both stretches together would reduce construction costs and speed up completion of the project.
Further, the Chief Minister sought the Centre’s intervention to approve the proposed greenfield highway linking Bharat Future City with Bandar Port through Amaravati. According to him, the project fulfils a provision of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.
He said the proposed 12-lane highway would reduce the distance between Hyderabad and Vijayawada by about 100 kilometres. The Chief Minister added that it would also reduce freight transportation time between Hyderabad and Bandar Port.
Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy requested the Centre to expedite forest clearances for the Mannanur-Srisailam elevated corridor. The project covers the Nallamala Sanctuary, Srisailam Temple and the Srisailam reservoir.
The Chief Minister also sought approval for a six-lane alternative highway between Mancherial and Hyderabad. According to Revanth Reddy, the road would serve as an alternative to the existing Rajiv Highway. The State Government will undertake land acquisition for the project, he said. He added that the new highway would create opportunities for agriculture and business.
Nalgonda MP Raghuveer Reddy, R&B Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, Government Advisor and Ex-officio Special Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Special Secretary (Coordination) Advait Kumar Singh and other officials attended the meeting.
