Alwal Rythu Bazaar farmers seek relief from displacement

Hyderabad: Around 1,500 farming families that depend on the historic Alwal Rythu Bazaar have appealed to Malkajgiri MP Eatala Rajender to safeguard their livelihoods. Their appeal follows proposals to clear the market for an elevated corridor project.

A delegation of farmers met the MP on Wednesday and submitted a representation. They requested his urgent intervention in the matter.

The market was established on January 26, 1999. It serves as a vital direct-to-consumer hub for farmers who travel daily from the Medchal, Siddipet, Medak and Nalgonda districts.

Farmers seek alternative site near Alwal

The farmers urged the authorities to reconsider the removal of the market. They said that if relocation is unavoidable, the authorities must allocate an alternative site within the immediate Alwal vicinity. They warned that otherwise hundreds of agricultural families would face severe economic distress.
