Hyderabad: A police constable posted at Gurrampode Police Station was arrested after a Telangana constable POCSO case was registered against him over allegations of inappropriate behaviour with a minor girl in Nalgonda district.
Police identified the accused as Satyanarayana, who was serving as a constable at Gurrampode Police Station. Nalgonda One Town Police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act following a complaint from the girl’s family.
Telangana constable POCSO case traced through CCTV
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly stopped the girl while she was riding a bicycle and behaved inappropriately with her. He also allegedly touched her inappropriately before leaving the spot.
The girl later informed her parents about the incident. Subsequently, they approached Nalgonda One Town Police, who registered a case and launched an investigation.
Police examined CCTV footage from the area. During the investigation, they found that the suspect had covered his face with a mask and moved through several locations. Further inquiry led investigators to identify the suspect as Constable Satyanarayana.
Telangana constable POCSO case under investigation
Police took the accused into custody after confirming his identity. Meanwhile, the investigation is continuing under the provisions of the POCSO Act.
Reports also claimed that two POCSO cases had previously been registered against the constable while he was posted at Nakrekal. The reports further alleged that complaints had been made about his inappropriate behaviour towards women visiting the police station. However, police have not officially commented on those earlier allegations.
