Hyderabad: Telangana promises should be at the centre of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s campaign, Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said on Tuesday. He challenged the BJP to explain what it had delivered to the State during its 12 years in power at the Centre before seeking votes.
The Minister alleged that the BJP had discriminated against Telangana. He also accused the Centre of failing to implement the assurances made to the State after its bifurcation. According to him, the party had limited itself to criticising the Congress government.
Telangana promises should be fulfilled, says Ponnam
Ponnam Prabhakar said the BJP had repeatedly disrespected the formation of Telangana. He claimed the party was losing public support in the State. He asked its leaders to assess their performance by counting the corporators and sarpanches they had elected in local body elections.
The Minister further alleged that eight BJP MPs had won with the support of the BRS. He claimed the BRS had politically benefited the BJP by helping it secure those victories.
Ponnam Prabhakar urged the BJP national president to uphold the dignity of his office during his visit to Telangana. He said the party should fulfil its commitments to the State instead of only criticising the State government.
