Hyderabad: Amberpet Police solved an Amberpet auto theft case by arresting a habitual vehicle thief and recovering a stolen auto-rickshaw. The accused allegedly stole the vehicle parked outside the complainant’s residence in Golnaka.
Police identified the accused as Rapathi Santhosh, 32, an auto driver and resident of Kukatpally. Investigators said he was a habitual property offender with involvement in 10 vehicle theft cases.
According to police, the complainant, Alakunta Naveen, parked his auto-rickshaw outside his house on the night of June 28. When he checked the next morning, the vehicle was missing. He then lodged a complaint with Amberpet Police, who registered a case under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Amberpet auto theft solved through investigation
During the investigation, officers examined the crime scene, questioned witnesses and gathered intelligence. Acting on credible information, they apprehended the accused near Shivanand Hotel in Amberpet on July 1.
Police said the accused allegedly confessed during interrogation. Based on the information obtained, officers recovered the stolen auto-rickshaw from Dumping Yard Road in Amberpet under a seizure panchanama.
Authorities formally arrested the accused and produced him before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody. Police said further investigation into the case was continuing.
