Ponnam Prabhakar reviews BC welfare schemes, pending issues

Hyderabad: Minister for BC Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar reviewed welfare schemes and directed officials to address pending issues.

He held a review meeting at the Secretariat with senior officials. BC Welfare Secretary Balamayadevi, Gurukul Secretary Saidulu, MD Mallayya Battu and Alok Kumar attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the minister examined pending matters in the department. He also reviewed the selection process for beneficiaries under the BC overseas scholarship scheme.

BC welfare review focuses on education, welfare and skill programmes

Ponnam Prabhakar decided to strengthen skill development programmes through the BC Corporation. In addition, he reviewed the performance of BC Gurukuls.

He said students who performed well in the recent Intermediate results will be felicitated. Moreover, he directed officials to ensure timely payment of rents for hostels and Gurukul institutions.

He instructed departments to supply textbooks, uniforms and shoes before the next academic year begins. Further, he directed officials to clear pending Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak cheques without delay.

The minister also said kits should be provided to those trained under the Katamayya Rakshana Kavacham programme.
