Almas Khan slams Tejasvi Surya over Telangana remarks

Hyderabad: Telangana remarks by BJP MP Tejasvi Surya drew sharp criticism from Youth Congress leader Almas Khan, who termed them offensive and irresponsible.

Almas Khan, Telangana Youth Congress State General Secretary, reacted strongly to Surya’s comments during the delimitation debate in Parliament. He said equating Telangana’s formation with the Partition of India insults the state’s history.

Calling the comparison unacceptable, Khan said it disrespects the sacrifices of martyrs and people who fought for statehood. He added that Telangana achieved statehood through a constitutional process under Article 3.

Khan alleged that Surya’s statements reflect ignorance and arrogance. Moreover, he said such remarks undermine democratic values and parliamentary dignity.

Criticising Surya’s clarification, Khan called it inadequate and unconvincing. According to him, the response failed to address the seriousness of the issue.

He accused the BJP MP of making provocative statements for attention. Such behaviour, he added, shows a lack of responsibility and maturity.

Khan demanded an unconditional apology from Surya to the people of Telangana. In addition, he urged authorities to remove the remarks from Parliamentary records.

He also called for action to uphold the dignity of democratic institutions. Meanwhile, he reaffirmed support for the state leadership under Revanth Reddy.

Khan said Telangana will oppose any attempts to distort its history and identity.
