Hyderabad: Telangana celebrated Sports Day across the state as part of the ongoing Sports and Youth festival under the Praja Palana Pragathi Pranalika programme.
District collectors and officials supervised competitions in all 32 district headquarters under the Youth and Sports Department.
The main state-level celebrations took place at LB Stadium in Hyderabad. Youth, athletes, parents and members of the public participated enthusiastically.
Meanwhile, the Telangana Sports Authority organised inter-stadium competitions at GMCB Stadium in Gachibowli, KBR Indoor Stadium, Saroor Nagar Indoor Stadium, Gymkhana Grounds and the Cycling Velodrome.
Competitions were held in athletics, basketball, badminton, boxing, fencing, swimming, table tennis, tennis, football, chess, handball, volleyball, kabaddi and wrestling.

Telangana Sports Authority Managing Director Dr A. Soni Bala Devi personally supervised the competitions and interacted with participating athletes.
She said the Sports and Youth festival programmes were receiving an encouraging response across Telangana.
Further, she noted that youth, parents and people from different sections of society actively participated in the events.
According to her, the Telangana Sports Authority was working to promote participation in games and physical activities among all age groups and communities.
She also said encouraging people to take part in physical activities would help build a healthier society.
Deputy directors Raviteja, Sujatha and Srinivas attended the programme. Stadium administrators Ravikumar, Rajveer, Nandakishore and Kannam Madhu were also present.
