Hyderabad: Chaderghat police secured a POCSO case conviction after a Hyderabad court sentenced an accused to five years of rigorous imprisonment.
The XII Additional Sessions Judge Court at Nampally convicted Mohammed Moin Mohiuddin, 45, a resident of Palton in Malakpet, under Section 354 IPC and Section 7 read with 8 of the POCSO Act.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the accused.
According to the prosecution, the incident took place on June 7, 2024, at around 8 pm when the seven-year-old victim was returning home from a madrasa in Palton Fourth Lane.
Police said the accused allegedly lured the child by offering money for chocolates and took her to a building terrace.
However, the child raised an alarm and returned home. Later, her mother lodged a complaint at Chaderghat Police Station.
POCSO case conviction brings relief to victim’s family
Authorities recorded the victim’s statement through procedures at the Bharosa Centre.
The Bharosa team provided counselling, emotional support and continuous assistance to the victim and her family during the investigation and trial.
Officials said the victim’s family expressed satisfaction over the conviction delivered by the court.
Inspector D. Ravi Raj investigated the case. Special Additional Public Prosecutor P.J. Ramakrishna, Public Prosecutor A. Ram Reddy and Bharosa officials coordinated during the trial proceedings.
Court Duty Officer HC Ch. Bheem Rao and Summons Duty PC G. Sai Nath also assisted in the case process.
Further, DCP Women Safety Dr Lavanya NJP, ACP Women Safety Prasanna Lakshmi and Inspector Bharosa P. Padma monitored the progress of the case.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar appreciated the coordinated efforts of officials involved in securing the conviction.
