Hyderabad: TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud said the Congress would contest the next Assembly elections under Revanth Reddy leadership. He expressed confidence that the party would return to power in Telangana.
Speaking at Telangana Formation Day celebrations at Gandhi Bhavan, Mahesh Kumar Goud extended greetings to the people of the state. He also paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for Telangana.
The TPCC chief said Telangana became a reality after years of struggle and sacrifice. He credited former Congress president Sonia Gandhi with initiating the process that led to statehood.
According to Mahesh Kumar Goud, Sonia Gandhi’s determination helped fulfil the aspirations of millions of people. The Congress government, he said, remained committed to improving the lives of the poor.
Revanth Reddy leadership to guide Congress into next polls
Mahesh Kumar Goud said the government was implementing promises made before the elections. He claimed the administration had launched several welfare and development programmes.
Referring to free bus travel and the supply of fine rice, he said the government was working in line with people’s aspirations. Welfare and development, he added, remained central to governance.
The TPCC chief also criticised BJP leaders. According to him, they were misleading the public on various issues.
Furthermore, he said Telangana continued to uphold communal harmony and secular values. He maintained that the Congress government remained committed to inclusive governance.
Mahesh Kumar Goud called upon party workers and citizens to contribute to the state’s development. He urged them to support the government’s efforts during the remaining term.
Reiterating his confidence in the party, he said Congress would seek another mandate under Revanth Reddy leadership. The TPCC chief also expressed confidence that the party would return to power.
His remarks attracted attention amid political speculation over leadership issues within the party. However, Mahesh Kumar Goud did not directly address those discussions.
