Gurukul tenders were transparent, says Adluri Laxman Kumar

Hyderabad: Social Welfare and Scheduled Castes Development Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar on Friday asserted that Gurukul tenders transparent procedures were followed in the procurement of student amenities for Gurukuls, welfare hostels, KGBVs and residential educational institutions.

Addressing a press conference at the Secretariat along with Minority Welfare Minister Mohd Azharuddin, Adluri Laxman Kumar rejected allegations made by BRS Legislature Party leader T. Harish Rao.

He described the allegations as false, politically motivated and aimed at discrediting Telangana’s welfare education system.

Gurukul tenders transparent process followed norms

The Minister said the total tender value stood at Rs 687.78 crore.

He questioned Harish Rao’s allegation that the procurement process involved a Rs 2,000 crore scam.

“If there is evidence, place it before investigating agencies. Making sensational claims without documentary proof misleads the public,” he said.

Adluri Laxman Kumar stated that officials conducted the entire procurement process through the Telangana Government e-Procurement Portal.

According to him, authorities floated the tenders through a national competitive bidding process.

He said the process attracted 27 bids from different parts of the country.

Furthermore, officials carried out technical scrutiny and financial evaluation according to prescribed guidelines before selecting the lowest eligible bidders.

Gurukul tenders transparent and competitive: Minister

The Minister said the government did not award any work on a nomination basis.

He also rejected allegations that the government favoured a Gujarat-based contractor.

“The narrative about a Gujarat contractor is completely fabricated. Companies from Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad and other regions participated in the bidding process. No Gujarat-based company received any contract,” he said.

Adluri Laxman Kumar also compared allocations made to public sector institutions during the previous BRS government and the present Congress administration.

He said the BRS government had entrusted works worth only Rs 40.21 lakh to LIDCAP during its tenure.

In contrast, he said the Congress government had awarded works worth Rs 51 crore to TGLIPC, formerly LIDCAP, within two years.

According to the Minister, the figures demonstrated the government’s commitment to strengthening public sector institutions and supporting traditional livelihoods.
