Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) trapped an MPDO, an MPO and a private individual in the Mahabubabad bribery case after they allegedly accepted Rs 45,000 as a bribe at the MPDO office in Narsimhulapet mandal on Friday.
According to ACB officials, MPDO Penugonda Radhika and MPO K. Yakaiah allegedly demanded money from a complainant for extending an official favour related to layout development permissions.
Officials said the accused allegedly accepted Rs 20,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively.
Mahabubabad bribery case leads to arrests
Investigators alleged that Penugonda Radhika received her share of the bribe through her son, C. Nagarjuna.
According to ACB officials, Nagarjuna worked as her personal assistant and driver.
The agency conducted the trap operation after receiving information about the alleged demand for illegal gratification.
Officials recovered the tainted cash from the accused during the operation.
Mahabubabad bribery case under investigation
ACB investigators also alleged that the accused had earlier collected Rs 55,000 from the complainant for the same work.
Following the trap, officials arrested all three accused.
They later produced them before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases in Warangal.
Meanwhile, ACB officials continued the investigation to gather additional evidence in the case.
The agency withheld the complainant’s identity for security reasons.
