Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) conducted refresher training programmes for field staff to strengthen vector-borne disease control measures ahead of the monsoon season.
The Metropolitan Surveillance Unit organised the training on June 9 as part of monsoon preparedness activities.
The programme covered prevention and control measures for diseases such as dengue, malaria and chikungunya.
GHMC conducted the training in two batches for staff from Secunderabad and Golconda zones.
The Chief Medical Officer of Health supervised the sessions.
A total of 586 participants attended the programme.
The attendees included Assistant Medical Officers of Health, Senior Entomologists, Ward Entomology Supervisors and field staff.
Vector-borne disease control focus ahead of monsoon
Officials trained participants in anti-larval operations and fogging activities.
They also explained mosquito breeding source identification and the safe handling of larvicides and insecticides.
Further, the sessions covered entomological surveillance, outbreak preparedness and field monitoring.
Officials also highlighted the importance of community awareness programmes for effective disease prevention.
Meanwhile, GHMC said continuous capacity building and regular training remain key components of public health preparedness and response.
The civic body noted that strengthening field teams would improve disease surveillance and control efforts during the monsoon season.
