SIR voter revision begins across municipal corporation

Hyderabad: The SIR voter revision process officially began across the Municipal Corporation on Thursday. Municipal Commissioner Praful Desai directed officials to conduct the electoral roll revision in a transparent, systematic and error-free manner.

The Commissioner chaired a review meeting at the Urban Tahsildar’s office with the Urban, Rural and Kothapalli MROs, revenue officials and staff. The meeting reviewed implementation of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), voter list revision procedures and the distribution of application forms.

Praful Desai also inspected the exercise in different localities. He instructed MRO officials and BLO supervisors to ensure effective implementation of the revision process.

SIR voter revision focuses on eligible voters

The Commissioner directed Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to visit every household and distribute two voter revision forms to each family. He also asked them to explain the application process and maintain daily records of form distribution at every polling booth.

Officials supplied BLOs with kits containing voter revision forms and 17 essential items required for the exercise.

Furthermore, the Commissioner directed officials to include every eligible voter in the electoral rolls. He asked them to prevent the deletion of eligible voters while identifying duplicate, multiple and deceased voter entries.

SIR voter revision emphasises public awareness

Officials also received instructions to verify address changes and place members of the same family in the same polling station wherever possible. In addition, they were asked to enrol all eligible citizens who had attained 18 years of age.

The Commissioner also stressed the need for public awareness programmes. He appealed to citizens to cooperate with officials to ensure the successful implementation of the Special Intensive Revision process.
