Talasani raises concerns over SIR survey staff in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: BRS leaders alleged serious irregularities in the ongoing SIR voter survey programme and claimed authorities appointed untrained staff, including sweepers, as Booth Level Officers.

The SIR voter survey issue came up after former minister and Sanath Nagar MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav wrote letters to the Chief Electoral Officer and GHMC Commissioner highlighting alleged flaws in the programme.

Senior BRS leader Gurram Pawan Kumar Goud submitted the letters to GHMC Commissioner Karnan on Wednesday. He alleged that officials were conducting the Special Intensive Revision programme in a careless manner.

Pawan Kumar Goud told the Commissioner that field staff were not conducting proper door-to-door surveys. He also alleged that several staff members lacked awareness about app-based data entry and voter mapping procedures.

According to BRS leaders, some staff members were simultaneously conducting population census activities instead of focusing on the SIR voter survey. Consequently, people were facing confusion over the ongoing verification process.

SIR voter survey complaints submitted to GHMC

BRS leaders said MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav held a meeting with party booth-level agents on Wednesday to review field-level conditions.

During the meeting, booth-level agents reportedly informed the MLA about several operational problems in the survey programme.

Pawan Kumar Goud requested authorities to clarify whether officials were conducting population census activities or prioritising the SIR voter survey programme.

He said the government should remove confusion among Booth Level Officers and voters by issuing clear instructions regarding the exercise.

SIR voter survey raises concerns over staff training

The BRS leaders also alleged that some field staff lacked proper training and awareness about the survey process. Therefore, they urged election authorities to review the implementation mechanism immediately.

Leaders including Bansilalpet division president Venkatesan Raju, Shailender and Mukka Srinivas accompanied Pawan Kumar Goud during the meeting with the GHMC Commissioner.
