BRS leaders attack Congress for mishandling BC reservation issue

Hyderabad: BRS leaders T. Srinivas Yadav and Srinivas Goud announced their decision to join the BC bandh organised by the BC Joint Action Committee (BC JAC) on October 18. The protest aims to secure 42% reservations for Backward Classes (BCs). Speaking to reporters at Telangana Bhavan, the two leaders said they would march to the protest venue directly from the party office.

Srinivas Yadav accused the Congress government of staging a political drama over BC reservations. He said the ruling party tried to mislead the public but failed to convince anyone. “We made our stand clear in the Assembly,” he said. “The caste census lacked proper planning, and adding the Chief Minister’s and Deputy Chief Minister’s photos to the survey forms was a mistake.”

The leaders criticised the Congress for holding a protest in Delhi before sending the BC reservation resolution to the Governor. They also noted that senior Congress figures Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi skipped the dharna. “Telangana Congress leaders went to Delhi just to enjoy themselves,” they said.

Srinivas Yadav said the BRS would not contest local body elections until 42% BC reservations are implemented. He insisted that polls must follow legal procedure under the Ninth Schedule. “If the Chief Minister acts according to his own will, the state will face serious consequences,” he warned.

Leaders appeal to BCs to make the October 18 bandh successful

Both leaders pledged to keep pressuring Congress until it fulfils its promises. They accused the ruling party of being inactive for the past 17 months. “How can judges deliver verdicts without a proper law?” they asked. Moreover, they urged every BC citizen to join the bandh and ensure its success.
