Hyderabad: A Congress BJP clash near Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday prompted police to resort to a lathi charge after workers of the two parties confronted each other during rival protests in Hyderabad.
The confrontation began after BJP workers attempted to march to Gandhi Bhavan. The march came in response to Congress protests against the arrest of Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Workers from both parties allegedly attacked each other during the confrontation. Consequently, police intervened and used a lathi charge to disperse the rival groups and restore order.
Earlier, Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao led a march from the BJP State office in Nampally towards Gandhi Bhavan. However, police stopped the procession before it reached its destination. The move triggered heated arguments and jostling between BJP workers and police personnel.
Later, police detained Ramchander Rao along with several senior BJP leaders and shifted them to a police station. Following the detentions, BJP workers staged a sit-in protest on the road and raised slogans against the Congress government. As a result, traffic congestion worsened in the Nampally area. Meanwhile, police deployed additional personnel around the BJP State office to maintain law and order.
