Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president KT Rama Rao on Wednesday sought clarity from the Telangana government on Adilabad CCI plant revival. He urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to spell out the government’s official position through an open letter.
KTR said the issue went beyond industrial development. He said it affected the livelihoods of thousands of families, the future of Adilabad district and Telangana’s economic growth.
Referring to a recent visit to New Delhi, KTR said a BRS delegation and representatives of the CCI Sadhana Samithi met Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy on July 15. They submitted a representation seeking the revival of the Adilabad CCI plant.
According to KTR, the Union Minister said the project could move forward if the Telangana government contributed ₹250 crore. He also said the State government had not submitted a formal proposal. Nor had it conveyed its willingness to provide incentives or other support.
Adilabad CCI plant revival needs State support, says KTR
Consequently, KTR said the State government could remove the major hurdles by taking the required initiative. Meanwhile, he criticised the Congress government for not announcing its official position despite what he described as a positive response from the Union government.
KTR alleged that the delay over the past two-and-a-half years reflected a lack of commitment. He also accused the government of failing to pursue a coordinated approach with the Centre. According to him, it also failed to announce an independent revival plan.
Further, KTR reminded Revanth Reddy that he had promised to revive the CCI plant during the Assembly election campaign in Adilabad. He said the Chief Minister repeated the assurance after assuming office. However, KTR alleged that the promises remained unfulfilled.
He also claimed the State government had failed to hold official discussions with the Centre. It had not submitted the required proposals. It had also not clarified the incentives it was willing to offer. According to KTR, the Union government cited these issues as the reasons for the delay.
