Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao decided to support the Delhi student protests demanding Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation. He also decided to participate in a protest called by the party’s student wing, BRSV.
BRSV scheduled the demonstration at Indira Park for 10 am on Friday. The organisation called the programme to express solidarity with students protesting in Delhi. KTR decided to attend the event and extend his support to their demand. The students had sought Pradhan’s resignation from the Union Cabinet.
Delhi student protests drew support from other parties
Several political parties across the country had already backed the Delhi student protests. The Shiv Sena directly joined the students at Jantar Mantar in Delhi and expressed its support.
The Nationalist Congress Party also submitted a representation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on behalf of the students. In the representation, the party asked the Prime Minister to remove Dharmendra Pradhan from office.
Several parties outside the ruling alliance also supported the agitation. They demanded Pradhan’s resignation and backed the students’ protest campaign. However, the Union government had not responded to the resignation demand. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised measures to resolve the issue without delay.
He also said the government would establish fast-track courts to punish those responsible. Despite that assurance, the students continued their agitation and maintained their demand. BRSV then announced its Hyderabad protest in support of the students. KTR’s decision to join the programme added political weight to the demonstration.
The protest was scheduled at Indira Park on Friday morning. BRSV said the programme would support the students and press for action against the Union Education Minister.
