Hyderabad: A constable died by suicide at the Telangana DGP office early on Thursday, triggering concern among officials and staff. The constable, identified as Swamy, was serving sentry duty at the office.
Swamy had reported for the Wednesday night shift. At about 5.30 am, he went to a washroom inside the office premises. He later died after using his service weapon, according to the available information. Fellow personnel noticed the incident and checked on him. However, they found that he had already died before they could shift him to a hospital.
Telangana DGP office police recover suicide note
Saifabad police reached the Telangana DGP office and examined the scene. During the inspection, officers reportedly recovered a suicide note. In the note, Swamy reportedly asked that no action be taken against his wife and children. The letter also allegedly mentioned two persons in connection with family disputes.
However, police had not confirmed the exact circumstances behind his death. They registered a case and began examining the possible reasons. Investigators were also checking Swamy’s recent phone calls. They sought to establish whom he had spoken to before the incident.
Meanwhile, a Clues Team joined Saifabad police at the office. The teams collected evidence from the scene as part of the investigation. Officials planned to shift Swamy’s body to Osmania General Hospital after completing the inquest. Doctors were expected to conduct a post-mortem examination.
Colleagues said Swamy had served as a sentry at the DGP office for nearly two years. Police said further details would emerge after the investigation.
