Cotton MSP procurement preparations to come under Tummala review

Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao was scheduled to review preparations for Cotton MSP procurement with the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) Chairman and Managing Director. The meeting would focus on ensuring hassle-free cotton purchases for farmers across Telangana.

The review was scheduled for 11 am at Hotel Golconda in Masab Tank, Hyderabad. Senior officials from the agriculture, marketing and allied departments were also expected to attend.

Cotton MSP procurement review to focus on farmers

The meeting would examine measures required to conduct cotton purchases smoothly without causing difficulties for farmers. Officials were also expected to review arrangements for procurement centres across the state.

In addition, the review would cover infrastructure required at the purchase centres. The discussions would focus on steps needed to ensure eligible farmers received the benefit of the Minimum Support Price. The Cotton MSP procurement preparations would also involve coordination between the state government and the Cotton Corporation of India.

Cotton MSP procurement meeting to involve senior officials

The CCI Chairman and Managing Director was scheduled to participate in the meeting with Tummala Nageswara Rao. The Agricultural Production Commissioner and Secretary to Government was also expected to attend. Furthermore, the Marketing Department Director and senior officials from agriculture and allied departments were scheduled to participate.

The meeting would review the state’s preparatory arrangements before cotton procurement operations began. The primary focus would remain on smooth purchases, adequate infrastructure and access to MSP benefits for farmers.
