Hyderabad: Maoist State Committee member Kakarala Samatha surrendered before the Telangana Police in Mulugu, Director General of Police C.V. Anand said. Under the state government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy, authorities handed her an eligible reward of Rs 20 lakh through a cheque.
Samatha had remained associated with the Maoist organisation for about four decades. She joined the organisation as a party member in 1985 and subsequently rose through its organisational ranks.

According to the DGP, Samatha became an Area Committee member in 1991. The organisation elevated her to the District Committee in 1994. Later, she became a State Committee member in 2003. Her Kakarala Samatha surrender therefore marked the exit of a senior cadre who had held positions at different levels of the organisation.
Following her surrender, the Telangana government extended benefits available under its surrender and rehabilitation policy. Authorities handed over a cheque for Rs 20 lakh, representing the total eligible reward amount.
Kakarala Samatha surrender prompts appeal to remaining cadres
DGP C.V. Anand also appealed to the remaining three active Maoist cadres from Telangana to surrender before the authorities. He urged them to leave the organisation, return to the mainstream and use the support available under the government’s rehabilitation policy.
The DGP said the state government’s policy provided benefits and assistance to cadres who surrendered and returned to mainstream society. The appeal followed the Kakarala Samatha surrender in Mulugu and the release of the Rs 20 lakh eligible reward amount to her.
