Hyderabad: The GHMC waste segregation drive on Friday sensitised Ganesh devotees at Khairatabad about proper waste disposal and responsible plastic collection. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation organised the awareness programme with the Telangana and Andhra Plastic Manufacturers Association.
The programme took place at NTR Marg for devotees attending the Bada Ganesh procession. Primarily, the initiative focused on separating waste at its source and ensuring responsible collection and disposal of plastic waste.
GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan and Additional Commissioner B. Santosh inaugurated a dedicated training centre. Meanwhile, representatives and members of the plastic manufacturers’ association attended the programme.

During the programme, officials asked devotees to avoid littering and separate different types of waste. In addition, they advised devotees to deposit plastic waste only at designated collection points.
The waste segregation initiative sought to encourage cleaner celebrations during the Ganesh festivities across Hyderabad. Moreover, the civic body focused on environmentally responsible practices as devotees participated in the Bada Ganesh procession.
