Hyderabad: Telangana Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha congratulated pharmacists across the state on World Pharmacists Day. He said Telangana pharmacists played a crucial role alongside doctors and nurses in strengthening public health systems.
Narasimha highlighted their contribution to supplying safe and quality medicines to people. He also stressed the importance of pharmacists creating awareness about correct medicine dosages.
The minister referred to the 2026 theme, “Pharmacists – Partners in Strengthening Health Systems”. He said the theme highlighted the need to expand the profession’s role in protecting public health.
Narasimha said the Telangana government was taking steps to strengthen the pharmacy profession. These measures included encouraging pharmacy education and improving access to quality medicines.
The government was also undertaking pharmacist appointments at medical stores in government hospitals and health centres in phases. Meanwhile, Narasimha said the government remained committed to giving pharmacists due recognition and professional opportunities.
Telangana pharmacists urged to expand public health role
The minister also recalled the dedication shown by pharmacists during the COVID pandemic. He said their service during that period remained unforgettable.
Narasimha expressed hope that government pharmacy officials would take on a larger role in public health protection. He also wished pharmacists greater professional growth and encouraged them to continue improving services to the public.
Earlier, the minister joined pharmacists at his residence in Hyderabad to mark World Pharmacists Day. He cut a cake with them and took part in the celebrations.
