Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed officials to immediately begin construction of power substations in Telangana. He reviewed the power sector with Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka during a high-level meeting.
Senior energy department officials and MP Vemula Veeresham attended the review meeting.
The Chief Minister said the state would require stronger electricity infrastructure for upcoming industrial zones, high-speed rail corridors and Regional Ring Road projects. He asked officials to speed up planning and execution works.
Revanth Reddy also instructed officials to clear pending approvals under the Green Energy Policy on a priority basis. He directed departments to grant permissions for large data centres.
Power substations planned alongside solar projects
The Chief Minister asked officials to create awareness among self-help group women on solar power opportunities. He also stressed the need to promote solar stove usage among the public.
Further, Revanth Reddy instructed officials to establish solar power plants next to power substations where land was available. He proposed pilot projects at two substations in every undivided district outside Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister also ordered the appointment of nodal officers for 18 pilot solar power plants across nine undivided districts. Each district would receive two projects under the pilot phase.
Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy asked the power department to use artificial intelligence technology to identify supply gaps and improve electricity distribution.
He also directed officials to clear misconceptions among employees regarding Telangana Rythu Power Distribution Company Limited, also known as Rythu Discom.
