Rythu DISCOM set for Telangana launch on June 2

Hyderabad: The Telangana government is preparing to launch the Telangana Rythu Power Distribution Company on a full scale from State Formation Day on June 2.

The Rythu DISCOM launch has gathered pace after officials secured approvals and completed several operational processes within two months.

Officials said the government obtained approval from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. In addition, authorities completed Power Purchase Agreements and brought the employee division process to the final stage.

As part of preparations, officials started surveying agricultural distribution transformers needed for field-level operations. They said Telangana has nearly 5.60 lakh agricultural transformers across the State.

Authorities prepared plans to deploy three survey teams in each of the 744 operation sections. Consequently, 2,232 teams will participate in the transformer survey every day.

Rythu DISCOM launch focuses on transformer survey

The Rythu DISCOM developed a special mobile application for the survey process. Through the application, assistant engineers will collect photographs and technical details of agricultural distribution transformers under their jurisdiction.

Officials said engineers would also record geo-coordinates of the transformers. Moreover, they would upload transformer structure images, DTR emboss numbers and nameplate details through the application.

Telangana DISCOM CMDs and senior officials later held a video conference following government directions. During the meeting, they discussed the survey of agricultural transformers proposed to come under the Rythu DISCOM jurisdiction.

Officials informed the meeting that authorities had already conducted a pilot survey successfully in the Rajendranagar Circle.
