Hyderabad: BRS MLA Bandari Lakshma Reddy demanded the resignation of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar. He accused police of delaying the arrest of his son Sai Bhageerath in a POCSO case.
The Uppal MLA addressed the media at Chilukanagar in Hyderabad. According to Lakshma Reddy, police failed to act despite knowing the girl was a minor. He demanded strict action against Sai Bhageerath. Justice for the victim must be ensured, he said.
Lakshma Reddy said the BJP should remove Bandi Sanjay from the Union Cabinet. The party must act if it had sincerity on the issue, he said. Authorities were trying to weaken the case, the MLA alleged. He also claimed that officials were protecting the minister’s son instead of supporting the victim.
Bandi Sanjay resignation demand over alleged police delay
The MLA alleged that Revanth Reddy and Bandi Sanjay were acting together. He claimed they were staging political drama over the issue. Lakshma Reddy questioned whether the state followed separate standards of justice for the poor and influential people.
Lakshma Reddy also accused the Congress government of supporting Bandi Sanjay in the POCSO case. He questioned the registration of honeytrap and extortion cases against the minor girl. The MLA also asked whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Beti Bachao” slogan remained only a slogan.
The MLA urged the Chief Minister to treat the matter seriously. He asked the government to ensure justice for the victim’s family. BRS would continue its fight on behalf of the victim if the government failed to act, he warned
