Abids police arrest rowdy sheeter for extortion bid at hotel

Hyderabad: A rowdy sheeter arrest was made by Abids police after a habitual offender allegedly attempted to extort money from hotel staff and created a disturbance at a hotel in the city.

Police identified the accused in the rowdy sheeter arrest as Syed Sayeed Bahadur alias Bhadur (54), a resident of Bhagavathi Nagar in Jubilee Hills. He is a rowdy sheeter at Jubilee Hills Police Station.

According to police, the accused visited Taj Mahal Hotel in Abids, consumed food and allegedly tried to leave without paying the bill.

When staff demanded payment, he allegedly abused and threatened them. Police said he also claimed to be a notorious offender involved in several criminal cases.

Rowdy sheeter arrest follows hotel extortion attempt

Investigators said the accused pulled out a blade and injured himself inside the hotel.

He allegedly threatened to commit suicide and circulate videos on social media unless the management paid him Rs 10,000.

Following a complaint lodged by the hotel manager, Abids police registered a case, leading to the rowdy sheeter arrest.

During the investigation, police found that the accused was a habitual offender.

Officials said he figured in around 41 criminal cases across Hyderabad and Cyberabad.

The cases include murder, extortion, snatching, housebreaking, kidnapping, criminal trespass, intimidation and Arms Act violations.

Police produced the accused before the II Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Nampally.

The magistrate remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody.
