Sultan Bazar police nab murder case accused after 14 years

Hyderabad: Sultan Bazar police arrested a murder case accused and rowdy sheeter who allegedly remained absconding for 14 years after securing bail in a murder case.

Police identified the accused as Vishnav Kishan Das alias V. Ganesh Maharaj, a native of Uttar Pradesh.

Officials said the murder case accused figured as A2 in a murder case registered at Sultan Bazar Police Station in 2010.

According to police, he surrendered in the case in 2010 and obtained bail in 2012. He later disappeared and allegedly evaded trial for more than a decade.

Police opened a rowdy sheet against him in 1999.

Murder case accused allegedly changed identity to evade trial

Investigators said the accused figured in 21 criminal cases across Hyderabad and other districts.

The cases include murder, attempt to murder, theft and Arms Act offences.

During the investigation, police found that the murder case accused allegedly changed his name in Aadhaar and other documents.

Officials said he used the altered identity while residing in Malakpet.

Acting on credible intelligence, a special police team traced and apprehended him.

Police said the arrest ended a long search for the absconding rowdy sheeter.

Authorities also initiated a separate inquiry into the alleged fraudulent modification of identity documents.
