Five jailed in Hyderabad woman harassment case near Nizam College hostel

Hyderabad: A Hyderabad court sentenced five men to seven days in jail in a Hyderabad woman harassment case after convicting them for misbehaving with a woman near the Nizam College PG Hostel.

The incident took place on May 27 at around 6.30 pm.

Police said the accused harassed a woman who was travelling on a motorcycle with her husband near the hostel premises.

According to investigators, the accused were under the influence of alcohol during the incident.

Abids Police immediately registered E-Petty cases and produced the accused before the court.

Subsequently, III Special Judicial Second Class Magistrate M. Bhasker at Nampally convicted all five men under Sections 70(A) and 70(C) of the City Police Act.

Hyderabad woman harassment case ends in conviction

Police identified the convicts as Sunil, 23, Umesh, 22, Laxman, 23, Purushotham, 22, and Ram, 23.

Officials said all five are Nepal nationals. They work in the catering sector and live in the King Koti area of Hyderabad.

The magistrate awarded seven days of imprisonment to each convict.

Moreover, officials described the verdict as a swift response to harassment of a woman in a public place.

Hyderabad woman harassment case handled by Abids Police

Sub-Inspector Srikanth of Abids Police Station investigated the case.

Meanwhile, Police Constable N. Rajeshwar coordinated the court proceedings.

Abids Station House Officer K. Parashuram praised the CDO Functional Vertical team, investigators and court staff for their efforts.

He said the conviction sent a strong message against harassment of women in public places.

Furthermore, he reaffirmed the commitment of law enforcement agencies to act quickly in such cases.
