BC Commission to hold hearings on orphan age limit and Satani community request
Hyderabad: The BC Commission meeting held in Hyderabad discussed a range of issues related to backward classes, reservations and community welfare.
State BC Commission Chairman G. Niranjan chaired the meeting at the Commission Office in Khairatabad.
Meanwhile, Commission members Rapolu Jayaprakash, Tirumalagiri Surender, Balalakshmi Rangu and Member Secretary B. Bala Maya Devi attended the meeting.
BC Commission meeting schedules hearings on key issues
The Commission decided to conduct a hearing on June 24 regarding a representation on orphan classification under BC-A Group.
According to the representation, the age limit should increase from 10 years to 49 years.
Further, the Commission decided to hear a request from members of the Satani (Chattada Srivaishnava) community.
They have sought deletion of the word “Satani” from the BC Group-D category.
Additionally, the Commission discussed representations from members of the Lodda community in Kamareddy, Medak and Sangareddy districts.
The panel will study their social, educational and economic conditions.
Thereafter, it will decide on their request for Backward Class recognition.
Meanwhile, the Commission reviewed complaints alleging violations of reservation rules in state power utilities.
The panel had already visited the institutions concerned.
Further, it decided to seek additional information from the organisations.
The Commission also resolved to recommend continuation of the 2022 government orders.
The orders provide five per cent reservation in admissions to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule educational institutions for children from MBC communities.
In addition, the Commission decided to seek EWS certificates for members of 40 BC communities outside the Central OBC List.
The proposal aims to help them secure admissions in Central educational institutions and access employment opportunities.
Meanwhile, Deputy Director U. Srinivasa Rao, Assistant Secretary K. Manohar Rao, Special Officer N. Sunitha, Section Officer G. Satish Kumar and Research Officer G. Lakshminarayana also attended the meeting.
