Satish Kumar reviews Kazipet Railway Manufacturing Unit works

Hyderabad: Railway Board Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Satish Kumar on Sunday reviewed the progress of the Kazipet Railway Manufacturing Unit and inspected key railway infrastructure projects across the South Central Railway zone, including Charlapalli Rail Terminal, Jangaon Railway Station and the Indian Railways Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunications (IRISET).

Accompanied by South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, Secunderabad Divisional Railway Manager Dr. R. Gopalakrishnan and other senior officials, Satish Kumar began his visit at Kazipet Railway Station. He reviewed the ongoing Amrit Station redevelopment works and assessed passenger amenities before inspecting the Railway Manufacturing Unit being developed at an estimated cost of ₹597.68 crore.

Officials from Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) briefed the Chairman on the layout and progress of the project through a site model and a detailed presentation. The facility is being established to manufacture and maintain modern rolling stock and next-generation railway coaches. Satish Kumar also inspected the main production shed, bogie shop, paint shop, wheel shop and testing shop before interacting with media representatives about the project’s progress and expected benefits.

Kazipet Railway Manufacturing Unit among key projects reviewed

The Railway Board Chairman later conducted a rear-window inspection from Kazipet to Charlapalli. During the journey, he inspected the ongoing redevelopment works and passenger facilities at Jangaon Railway Station.

At Charlapalli Rail Terminal, Satish Kumar reviewed the tracks, points and crossings, yard infrastructure and passenger amenities. He also interacted with track maintainers and gangmen to understand their field responsibilities and working conditions.

The Chairman subsequently visited IRISET and its Centre of Excellence, where officials demonstrated the implementation of KAVACH, the indigenously developed train collision avoidance system. He reviewed a presentation on the deployment of the safety technology across Indian Railways.

The visit concluded at Rail Nilayam, the headquarters of South Central Railway, where Satish Kumar chaired a performance review meeting with senior railway officials. The meeting included a detailed presentation on the operational performance and ongoing development works across the zone.
