Hyderabad: TGSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director Jitesh V. Patil, IAS, directed officials to strengthen TGSPDCL power services by ensuring quality, uninterrupted and reliable electricity supply across Telangana. He asked officials to implement the State government’s priorities efficiently. The focus, he said, should remain on improving consumer services at the field level.
Chairing a video conference on Wednesday, Patil reviewed power supply and consumer services. He also assessed revenue collection, network strengthening, safety measures, pending works, agricultural power supply, solar connections, network mapping, model substations and other priority programmes.
The CMD instructed officers to spend more time in the field instead of remaining in their offices. They should interact directly with consumers. Officials must resolve complaints on the spot and take preventive measures to avoid power disruptions.
Patil said uninterrupted electricity was essential for the government’s welfare and development programmes. He directed officials to ensure continuous power supply to government offices, schools, hospitals, Anganwadi centres, agriculture and industries.
Meanwhile, Patil instructed officials to complete all pending electricity connections for Anganwadi centres in the utility’s 21 circles without delay. He warned that strict action would be taken against officials responsible for negligence or unnecessary delays.
Further, he directed officials to clear pending agricultural power connection applications through scientific planning. Officials should install higher-capacity transformers wherever required. The measure will improve power supply to farmers.
TGSPDCL power services to improve consumer services
The CMD asked officials to complete all pending commercial services within the prescribed timelines. This included new electricity connections, estimates, work orders, technical approvals and pending applications.
He also directed officials to accelerate the recovery of electricity dues from government departments, commercial consumers and other defaulters. In addition, he called for strict action against power theft, unauthorised connections and the misuse of multiple electricity meters.
Patil instructed officials to speed up digital network mapping. The exercise covers 33 KV and 11 KV lines, distribution transformers, structure coding and consumer mapping. He also asked them to integrate substation data with the IT system for future planning.
Meanwhile, he directed officials to expand the model substation programme across the State. He called for faster modernisation through civil works, compound walls and SCADA-based systems. The upgrades are expected to strengthen the electricity distribution network.
Monsoon preparedness and safety measures
With the monsoon underway, Patil instructed officials to intensify tree trimming and feeder inspections. He also ordered transformer maintenance, DTR repairs and stronger substation safety measures. Officials should shift cut tree branches to dumping yards within 24 hours. He warned that strict safety standards must be followed to ensure reliable electricity supply and prevent accidents.
The CMD also asked field staff to speed up solar connection registrations. He directed officials to prepare estimates for extending the model substation programme to all districts.
Every pending work should be completed before the August 10 review meeting, Patil said. He warned that officials who failed to meet deadlines would face disciplinary action. He also stressed that every employee must remain accountable for work performance.
Patil instructed officials to publicise development works and consumer service initiatives. Officials should share updates through the media, official social media platforms and WhatsApp groups. The information should also cover transformer capacity enhancement, new substations and improvements in consumer services.
Directors Vattikonda Shivaji, P. Krishna Reddy, Dr. N. Narasimhulu and Chilukamari Chakrapani attended the meeting. Chief engineers, chief general managers, superintending engineers, divisional engineers and other senior officials also participated in the review meeting.
