Hyderabad: TGSPDCL commissioned a new 12.5 MVA power transformer at the Madhapur SEZ substation. It replaced the existing 8 MVA transformer in Hyderabad’s Cyber City Circle. As a result, the upgrade will improve electricity supply for around 8,000 to 10,000 domestic, commercial and IT consumers.
RR Zone Chief Engineer L. Pandya inaugurated the transformer at the 33/11 kV SEZ substation in Kondapur Division. The project forms part of TGSPDCL’s ongoing infrastructure strengthening programme. It also supports the state’s rising electricity demand.
Madhapur SEZ substation capacity doubles
Following the upgrade, the Madhapur SEZ substation now operates with two 12.5 MVA transformers. Its total installed capacity has increased to 2 × 12.5 MVA. Consequently, officials said the station can handle future load growth more efficiently. It will also improve the reliability and quality of power supply.
The upgraded substation will provide stable electricity to the Madhapur IT Corridor and the SEZ area. In addition, it will serve Rajiv Nagar, Siddiq Nagar, PJR Nagar, Whitefield, Anjaiah Nagar and parts of Gachibowli.
Officials said nearly 8,000 to 10,000 electricity connections will benefit directly. These include households, commercial establishments and IT companies. Furthermore, consumers will receive better voltage stability. Tripping and overloading issues will also decline significantly.
Madhapur SEZ substation supports TGSPDCL expansion
Meanwhile, officials said TGSPDCL is accelerating power infrastructure upgrades under the guidance of Chairman and Managing Director Jitesh V. Patil, IAS. The utility is increasing the capacity of 33/11 kV substations. It is also installing new transformers, strengthening feeders and introducing modern protection systems across Telangana.
The utility will continue strengthening infrastructure in Hyderabad, especially in the fast-growing IT corridor. Therefore, consumers can expect more reliable and uninterrupted electricity. The upgrades will also support future demand growth.
Superintending Engineer (Cyber City) Chandrasekhar attended the programme. Divisional Engineers Shyam, Hemanand and Ravi also participated. Assistant Divisional Engineer Kamalakar Reddy joined the event along with officials and staff from the Cyber City Operation, Lines and Protection wings.
